MS Provided Supportability Matrix for Exchange 2007

The Exchange Server Supportability Matrix provides a central source for Exchange Administrators to easily locate information about the level of support that is available for any configuration or required component for all versions of Exchange Server and identifies the various supported configurations of Exchange Server (operating system, Active Directory, Clients, .Net Framework, etc). “The start mode for the Net. TCP Port Sharing service must be set to Automatic before Setup can continue”

In order to install Exchange 2010 Client Access Server role installation on Windows 2008 R2 its one of the pre-requisite that you change the startup mode for Net. TCP Port Sharing service from manual to automatic otherwise you will see this error during Rediness Check.

“The start mode for the Net. TCP Port Sharing service must be set to Automatic before Setup can continue.”

Exchanage 2010 Error

Resolution:

Change startup mode of “Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service” from Manual to Auto by running this command in PowerShell.

Set-Service NetTcpPortSharing -StartupType Automatic

Service Pack 2 released for Exchange 2007

Update Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 has been released

Microsoft has released Update Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1. The release of the rollup via Microsoft Update will happen on July 28. The majority of changes in this rollup are bug fixes.

KB 970162 has more details about this release and a complete list of all fixes included in this rollup.

“Object reference not set to an instance of an object”

When I was trying to install another mailbox server role to my existing exchange 2010 organization in my lab setup I got this error

MailboxRoleError

Problem:

Admin Audit Log Agent is enabled by default.

Workaround:

Microsoft will fix this problem in later builds of Exchange Server 2010 but for now there is only one fix and that is disable Admin Audit Log Agent with the following cmdlet

Disable-CmdletExtensionAgent “Admin Audit Log Agent”

Update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2007 SP1

Microsoft has released Update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1. This is a cumulative update rollup and replaces all the previous update rollups for Exchange 2007 SP1. The release of the rollup via Microsoft Update will happen on May 26. All fixes in this Update rollup and the previous ones for Exchange Server 2007 will be included with Exchange Server 2007 SP2 which will be available in the third quarter of 2009.
